Karan Johar confirms he will direct two films back-to-back in 2027
Karan Johar has confirmed that he will direct two films back‑to‑back next year, a first in his nearly three‑decade career.
Speaking during a media round following his much‑talked‑about Met Gala debut, where he wore a Manish Malhotra cape ensemble, Johar revealed that he has been simultaneously developing two projects.
“I’ve been developing two things, so I’m going to simultaneously do two back‑to‑back movies, which I’ve never done in my life and career,” he said.

One of the films is described as a family saga, a genre Johar is synonymous with, while the second is an intense, “rooted” love story. Both projects will be directed by him, marking a significant creative push after the success of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’.
Johar’s announcement signals a major year ahead for the filmmaker, who appears ready to return to the director’s chair with renewed momentum.
