Jigyasa Singh on being “apprehensive” about taking on ‘Shakti’ on Colors

As the popular TV show ‘Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’ takes a new turn with a new star cast, the storyline will still be focusing on the issues transgender people face. Taking the lead role will be Jigyasa Singh, who expressed she was sceptical at first to take on such a role.

“I was a little apprehensive about the character but slowly I felt comfortable. But I know for a fact that the transgender community still faces a lot of difficulties and they are still fighting for basic rights as their identity is still not accepted by people. The show is about accepting who we are and knowing our inner power and we’re trying our best to spread the message,” Telly Buzz reports the actress explain.

She also stated, “It’s a very challenging role and for any actor it will be an honor to play this role. I’ve always wanted to do such strong and challenging roles and continuing the legacy of Rubina (Dilaik) was interesting to me and the transition into my character was a little easy for me because she has portrayed the character for three long years and it has received a lot of love and support from the audience.”

Talking about how TV has always changed the conversation about social issues, Singh expressed, “Television is a very influential medium and apart from giving a social message we also have to keep in mind that we have a set of target audience and we have to entertain people too. The makers bring in all the drama to keep the viewers engaged and entertained and in fact fans want to watch it.”
