Farah Khan denies speculation of unfollowing Deepika Padukone on Instagram
Filmmaker Farah Khan has firmly denied speculation that she unfollowed actress Deepika Padukone on Instagram, calling the reports “a fake controversy” that has spiralled unnecessarily.
Speaking to Pinkvilla, Farah clarified, “To begin with, we were not following each other earlier, too! We had made a pact during the ‘Happy New Year’ shoot that we wouldn’t communicate on Instagram; instead, we’d use direct messages and calls.” She added that even birthday wishes are kept off social media, respecting Deepika’s preference for privacy.
The rumours gained traction after Farah jokingly referenced Deepika’s eight-hour work schedule in a vlog, which some interpreted as a subtle dig. Farah dismissed the notion, explaining the comment was aimed at her cook, Dilip, and not at Deepika.

Farah also revealed she was among the first to visit Deepika after the birth of her daughter, Dua, underscoring the strength of their personal bond. Deepika herself responded to the controversy with a simple “Amen” on Instagram, echoing Farah’s sentiment.
The director concluded by urging people to stop manufacturing drama online, saying such baseless speculation can genuinely damage relationships.
