Colors announces India’s first follow-reality series ‘Bhojpuri Bawaal’
JioHotstar and Colors TV have announced ‘Bhojpuri Bawaal’, described as India’s first premium follow‑reality series centred on leading figures from the Bhojpuri entertainment industry. The programme will feature Pawan Singh, Dinesh Lal Yadav (Nirahua), Amrapali Dubey, Kajal Raghwani and Tej Pratap Yadav, offering viewers access to their personal and professional lives.
The series moves away from conventional reality formats. It includes no tasks, eliminations or staged confrontations. Instead, cameras follow the participants in their everyday environments, presenting an observational account of their work, family pressures, public attention and the demands of maintaining stardom within one of India’s most widely followed regional entertainment sectors.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Alok Jain, Head of Hindi & English Entertainment Business (Streaming, TV & Studios) at JioStar, said, “JioHotstar is India’s home for unscripted programming, with the widest range of non‑fiction stories. We’ve built this by consistently innovating across formats. With ‘Bhojpuri Bawaal’, we’re taking that innovation into a new space: a first‑of‑its‑kind follow‑reality format that captures the real lives of the biggest stars of the Bhojpuri industry. Bhojpuri entertainment is one of the most vibrant forces from the Hindi heartland, and this show brings its scale, emotion and authenticity to a wider national audience.”
