BBC Asian Network’s annual cost remains at £7 million for third year

The BBC Asian Network spend for 2022-2023 remained at £7 million for the third year in a row.

In the BBC Annual Report published this week, the BBC Asian Network remained on par in terms of its spend, while other radio services such as BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 6 Music increased their spend.

BBC Radio 4 was the most costliest radio service with a spend of £88 million during this period – that’s an increase from £85 million a year ago.

While the BBC Asian Network’s spend was among the least from the whole group, its ‘cost per user hour’ was among the highest out of all BBC radio brands. It cost 5p to deliver the service for each hour used. BBC Asian Network, BBC 1Xtra and BBC Radio 5 were the highest.
