BBC Asian Network announces Ramadan & Vaisakhi programming

BBC Asian Network celebrates Ramadan and Vaisakhi with a host of programmes, playlists and podcasts during April and May to observe the religious holidays with listeners around the world.

Mehreen Baig kicks off Ramadan festivities with a new series– Not Even Water. The series of episodes explores fasting, abstaining from sex, music and food, plus the number 1 question…not even water?!

Chatting through everything you wanted to know about Ramadan and fasting, Mehreen is joined by an array of guests, such as Duaa, Muna and Aisha from the Diary Room podcast, boxing brothers Adam and Hassan Azim, TikTok superstar the Underrated Hijabi and comedian Fatiha El-Ghorri.

There are also appearances from actress Zoha Rahman and comedian Tez Ilyas, poet and actor Mim Shaikh and author Ayisha Malik, influencer Amena Khan and comedian Aatif Nawaz.

There will also be a special episode dropping for Eid, at the beginning of May.

Alongside Ramadan, Asian Network celebrates…Vaisakhi will launch on Asian Network and BBC Sounds – a series of four 15 minute specials to celebrate the festival of Vaisakhi.

DJ Simz will open the series, talking about why this Vaisakhi will be her best yet and picking out three bangers which get her pumped for this time of the year.

Further guests include ‘Eastenders’ star Jaz Deol, and international music artists Satinder Sartaaj and Asees Kaur, who discuss what the festival of Vaisakhi means to them, the heritage, the principles of Sikhism and the importance of representation.

Not Even Water launched on Asian Network on Saturday 26th March and is now available on BBC Sounds.
