Badshah & Diljit Dosanjh are the epitome of humility on ‘Koffee with Karan 6’

Two of the most well-known names in rapping and Punjabi cinema are Badshah and Diljit Dosanjh, respectively. They shared the ‘Koffee with Karan’ couch for the first time in the latest episode of the sixth season. They bring a great Punjabi flavour to the show.

An otherwise English show, Dosanjh brought some Hindi-Punjabi into this episode and it worked well. With him, his “obsession” with Kylie Jenner and his camaraderie with Badshah, this episode was perhaps a depiction of humility from them both. Host Karan Johar didn’t shy away from telling viewers how much money the two men spend on designer clothes which may look casual but cost a lot of money. He tested them on their brands, taking out different items of clothing. If one could get a pound for every time Dosanjh says “Gucci”…

Aside from this, the duo give some insight into the first time they performed live, which was a revelation somewhat. It’s almost like they fumbled into music and love performances and this is heartening to hear from two artistes who literally bring houses down across the world. Dosanjh was also asked to talk about the first time he met his favourite Salman Khan and Badshah also divulged the first meeting he had with his favourite Shah Rukh Khan. Johar asked them to sing and rap with each other spontaneously too which was a treat for the viewers – Dosanjh singing Proper Patola and Badshah rapping and then, on Johar’s request, Dosanjh singing ‘Ik Kuddi’ and Badshah rapping.

During the rapid fire round, Badshah is heard saying he finds Kartik Aaryan an overrated actor. He also reveals that if he could do a film role, he’d choose Dosanjh’s role in Johar’s production ‘Good News’ which recently went on the floors. He also reveals that if he had to choose between Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan to spend an evening with, he would choose the latter. On the other hand, Dosanjh revealed that he would choose Alia Bhatt to sing with him in a forthcoming song if he could choose. Out of Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan, he chose the latter. The games round saw Badshah winning but giving away from points as Dosanjh couldn’t make sense of some of the English words used by Johar in the questions. The songs rounds seemed particularly challenging for him.

In conclusion, this is one of those episodes where you see two talented men up close and realise that they have struggled to get to where they are. And now that they are in a position to enjoy their success, they are doing so but their hard work continues. It is, however, their humility that stands out the most. It is undoubtedly true that Johar should not have left it to the last season to bring such people on his sofa but one hopes that this is the start of a new trend.
