Advait Chandan exits ‘Dostana 2’ citing creative differences
Advait Chandan has stepped away from ‘Dostana 2’ after what multiple industry outlets describe as creative differences with Dharma Productions. The director, known for ‘Secret Superstar’ and ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, had been developing the new iteration of the film for several months before the decision was taken.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Chandan’s vision for the project ultimately diverged from the direction the studio intended to pursue. The publication reported that the filmmaker had been attached to the film for around seven months, but the two sides were unable to align on the creative approach required for the rebooted version of the franchise.
Other outlets have echoed the same reasoning. NDTV, citing a source close to the development, stated that the parting was amicable, noting, “The decision was driven by creative differences… there is no bad blood between him and Karan. All is well between them.” The source added that both parties mutually agreed that it was best to move forward separately rather than compromise on the film’s creative direction.

The studio has not yet announced who will take over the film, nor has it confirmed whether the existing script will be retained or reworked.
