Aditya Dhar responds after ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ Tamil and Telugu shows get cancelled

Cinema chains across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were forced to cancel the Tamil and Telugu screenings of ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ after the regional versions of the film failed to arrive in time. The disruption affected paid previews and early shows, leaving audiences frustrated and prompting theatres to issue refunds. Exhibitors cited last‑minute delivery delays and technical issues as the reason the dubbed prints could not be screened.

One cinema manager described the situation as “completely unexpected”, adding, “We were prepared for full houses, but the Tamil and Telugu versions simply didn’t reach us. With no files delivered, we had no option but to cancel.”

In response to the widespread confusion, director Aditya Dhar and the ‘Dhurandhar’ team issued a detailed note on their social media platforms, addressing the cancellations and offering clarity on the revised schedule.

The statement began with a message of gratitude, “To our dear Dhurandhar family, Dhurandhar is not just a film for us — it is something we have lived with, nurtured, and dreamed of sharing with each and every one of you, together, at the same moment, in every language.”

The note then outlined the updated release timings across the country, “Most of our Hindi shows across India are running as scheduled from 5 pm onwards. All of our Tamil and Telugu shows will commence from 9 pm onwards. However, due to unforeseen technical difficulties, our Malayalam and Kannada shows will begin from tomorrow morning.”

The team also acknowledged the inconvenience caused to audiences who had booked tickets in advance:
“If the dubbed version you have tickets for is not currently playing at your cinema, you will have an option for a refund or to watch the Hindi version with subtitles instead. We truly apologise for the inconvenience. Your love for this film means the world to us, and we cannot wait to share it with you.”

While the Hindi version continues to screen as planned, viewers in the South are now awaiting the updated showings of the regional dubs. The production team has assured fans that all versions will be available shortly, once the technical issues are fully resolved.
