Zoya Akhtar confirms sequel of ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ in the works

Zoya Akhtar has confirmed that ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara 2’ is in development, marking the film’s 15‑year milestone. Speaking at an international festival, she said “we are on it”, clarifying that she and Reema Kagti are shaping an early story draft and will only move ahead once the narrative feels authentic to the characters more than a decade later.

The sequel talk intensified after the Yas Island commercial featuring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol, which fans mistook for a teaser. Akhtar has now settled the speculation, stating that the trio is intended to return, but casting will only be locked after the script reaches a final stage.

The project remains in its development phase, with no production timeline announced, but industry chatter positions it as one of Excel Entertainment’s priority long‑lead titles.
