ZEE says FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage reached 388 million viewers in India
ZEE has revealed that its coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 reached 388 million viewers across television and digital platforms in India, making it the broadcaster’s biggest football event to date.
The company said the overall audience rises to more than 400 million when non-live television viewing is also taken into account. Digital platforms accounted for the largest share of the audience, with a reported reach of 295 million, while live television attracted 93 million viewers.
According to figures released by ZEE, total watch time across television and OTT platforms approached 50 billion minutes, while the tournament’s combined reach represented a significant increase on previous FIFA World Cups.
ZEE also cited Ormax Media data which ranked the FIFA World Cup 2026 as the leading OTT title in India during the tournament. Separately, the broadcaster said consumer research found that 73% of respondents held a positive perception of the ‘Z’ brand following its coverage of the competition.

The tournament was ZEE’s first FIFA World Cup after securing the Indian media rights shortly before the competition began. The agreement covers a range of FIFA tournaments through to 2034.
ZEE launched its new sports media brand, Unite 8 Sports, marking the network’s return to standalone sports broadcasting.
