‘The Dirty Picture 2’ confirmed as Ektaa Kapoor revives franchise after 15 years
Ektaa Kapoor has confirmed that a sequel to ‘The Dirty Picture’ is in development, 15 years after the release of the original 2011 hit.
Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Kapoor revealed that ‘The Dirty Picture 2’ is among the major projects currently in her slate and said she now has a story she wants to tell through the franchise.
The original film starred Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor, and was inspired by the life of South Indian screen icon Silk Smitha.

Kapoor indicated that the sequel will also focus on a strong female-led story but did not disclose the subject, cast, director or release plans. She added that a larger announcement about the project will follow.
