Taapsee Pannu to receive training from Mithali Raj’s friend

With the last few years putting Taapsee Pannu at the forefront of Indian cinema, this year would have been even bigger. Having had Indian Women’s cricket captain, Mithali Raj’s biopic to prepare for, apparently, the actress was all geared up to receive training from the cricketer’s own friend.

Titled ‘Shaabash Mithu’, helmed by Rahul Dholakia, Times of India reports Pannu stating, “One of Mithali’s friends, Nosheen, also a coach with the Railways Team, was going to coach me on the file. I have also met Mithali and she has a few things similar and a few character traits totally opposite of mine. Her demeanour is of a perfect team leader. She’s slightly introverted, which I guess will be a challenge for me to play.”

Despite the lockdown, the actress is ensuring she can do all she can to still gain all the information she needs to get into character. “I chat with her on messages but it’s been formal so far. I look forward to keeping in touch with her for the rest of my life because she’s an inspiration for many girls like me,” Pannu expressed.

She went on to add, ” As for the training, had everything been fine, I could have used my time to polish my game as a cricketer but that is not possible right now. I can’t watch videos to learn how to play the game. So, I will just try and maintain my health in a way that when I start training again for ‘Rashmi Rocket’ and ‘Shaabash Mithu’, things don’t take very long to fall into place.”

Though the first look of the film has already been released, there has yet to be further information about the cast that will be joining Pannu on-screen. It seems, with all shooting currently on stand-by, Dholakia and his team seem to be taking advantage of the time they have.
