Star Bharat set to launch new mythological series ‘Durga’

Star Bharat has announced the launch of its new mythological series ‘Durga’.

Produced by Rashmi Sharma who is known for her story telling is back with yet another family drama offering. The makers have roped in gorgeous and talented Chahat Pandey to portray the titular role of ‘Durga’ and brilliant and vibrant actor Avinash Mishra who will portray the role of Dev. Chahat has essayed a few notable roles in the TV Industry and has made a place in the hearts of the audience. Avinash has always been a known face who will be seen essaying a different role like Devs’.

‘Durga’ drives on the thought, we don’t meet people just as a coincidence, they are meant to cross path of each other for a reason, known only to divine forces. Based in the heartland of Punjab, ‘Durga’ will showcase the unique story of a simple village girl ‘Durga’, an ardent devotee of Mata Rani who marries a helpless young man Dev in order to protect him from evil forces as she believes the goddess has chosen her for this task. The interesting narrative of the show presents the story of ‘Durga’ who time and again in tested/troubled times with the divine help of Mata Rani helps Dev out of all his problems.

The story of ‘Durga’ revolves around a small village girl, Durga (played by Chahat Pandey) an ardent devotee of Mata Rani who in a challenging twist and turn of destiny marries Dev (played by Avinash Mishra) in order to protect him from evil forces as she believes the goddess has chosen her for this task where the shows’ driver thought comes in place, “Karne burayi ka sanhaar, Mata Rani ne jodein hai ye taar!”

When spoken to Chahat who plays the titular role in the show, she shared, “I feel blessed to be a part of the show like ‘Durga’ alongside an amazing star cast and a beautifully written story line. I will be seen essaying the main lead character in the show – Durga. She is a girl with strong faith in Mata Rani and she believes that the goddess has sent her to earth to protect Dev a helpless young man in order to protect him from evil forces as she believes the goddess has chosen her for this task. It’s a privilege being a part of this show which is so beautifully written with a strong message and working alongside an exciting set of colleagues and production house is something I am looking forward to.”

When spoken to the talented Avinash Mishra who plays the lead role in the show, he shared, “I will be essaying the pivotal role of Dev is a very intriguing character who plays a crucial role in Durga’s life. He is mentally challenged and as the only heir to the Aneja family how he struggles with the other family members is fascinating to watch. The part of being mentally challenged is what grabbed my eyeballs. I feel as an actor very few artists get the opportunity to face a challenge in their career in terms of the character traits. It’s easy for everyone to play a hero but it’s a challenge when someone has to play a character which is out of their comfort zone. I am really excited to play this role and I am looking forward to the response of the audience for our show.”

Rakshanda Khan added, “As an actor, you want to play all shades. It’s really exciting when you come across something that can surprise your audiences. I felt it was a good opportunity to flesh out that aspect of an actor and play such important character. With this role, I want to prove my versatility to the world. I will be essaying the role of Damini who is the custodian of the Aneja family fortune and the head of the family she is greedy for money and power. She is very egoistic and high-headed and a thorn in Durga’s story and continuously plots to keep Durga from her family. I am very positive about this show as it’s a one of a kind show.”

‘Durga’ launches on Monday 14th December at 20:30 (India) and 21:00 (UK).
