Ranbir Kapoor to revive RK Studios with film by Ayan Mukerji & Deepika Padukone?

Ranbir Kapoor is set to revive the iconic RK Studios to coincide with the 100th birth anniversary of his grandfather, legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor, in December 2025. The initiative is part of a larger tribute to the Kapoor family’s cinematic legacy and Raj Kapoor’s enduring influence on Indian cinema.

As part of the celebrations, RK Films, in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), will launch a retrospective titled ‘Raj Kapoor 100 – Celebrating the Centenary of the Greatest Showman’, screening ten of Raj Kapoor’s most iconic films across 135 cinemas in 40 cities, beginning 13th December 2025.

Insiders reveal that Deepika Padukone, Ayan Mukerji, and Ranbir Kapoor have already blocked dates post-Diwali to begin work on the first major project under the revived RK banner. The film is described as a contemporary family drama, marking a new creative chapter for the studio.

The physical reopening of RK Studios is scheduled for September 2026, with the official announcement of the new film expected to coincide with this milestone event.
