Nominations open for inaugural British Asian Music Awards

The inaugural British Asian Music Awards will be held virtually on Monday 19th July.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the music industry with cancelled tours and concerts, closed venues and postponed releases.

The public has been invited to nominate artists, groups, DJs and producers amongst others who not only honour the Asian culture by releasing spectacular music but also use the Asian music to unite communities and generate commercial success.

The awards aim to recognise and raise awareness of the Asian representation in the British Music Industry that is often overlooked by the Western market’s most popular genres.

Furthermore, the virtual event will provide a platform to the individuals to share their stories of how the Asian music community has navigated this unique and unprecedented year.

Ayesha Shahid, spokesperson for The British Asian Music Awards 2021 said: “These Awards are an excellent opportunity to showcase the strong presence of the British Asian community to the music industry.

“We encourage the public to vote for the artists, organisations and initiatives, in an attempt to thank and appreciate the work of Asian talented individuals, who often don’t get the recognition they deserve.”

Nominations take place on this website.
