Netflix India mulling idea of running finite daily dramas featuring TV artists

Netflix India is evaluating a slate of finite daily Hindi dramas, each running 30–40 episodes and fronted by established television artists, signalling a potential shift toward formats designed for routine household engagement. While still unconfirmed, the exploration suggests Netflix may be testing how multiple premiumised serials could sit alongside its existing limited‑series strategy.

Unlike open‑ended traditional daily soaps on networks like Star Plus that run for hundreds of episodes, Netflix is said to be considering closed‑ended, pre‑scripted dramas with higher production values. The model allows the streamer to retain creative discipline while experimenting with long‑arc storytelling familiar to India’s mass‑market viewers.

By casting popular TV personalities, Netflix aims to reach tier‑2 and regional audiences that traditionally favour broadcast serials. Multiple finite dramas would give the platform a broader entry point into India’s daily‑viewing ecosystem, without committing to the endless‑run structure of GEC programming.

For now, the development remains speculative, but it reflects a serious interest in bridging premium OTT sensibilities with mainstream television behaviour.
