Movie Review: ‘Jolly LLB 3’
A Hindi legal comedy-drama, ‘Jolly LLB 3’ is an entertaining return of the successful courtroom franchise ‘Jolly LLB’ after the 2017 release ‘Jolly LLB 2′.
Director Subhash Kapoor, who has also written the screenplay and dialogues of the film, brings together the two “Jollys” – Akshay Kumar as advocate Jagdishwar Jolly Mishra and Arshad Warsi as Jagdish Jolly Tyagi, in a face-off that’s both comical and compelling.
The film, produced by Star Studio18 and Kangra Talkies, maintains the series’ signature blend of satire, humour and social commentary.
The hero’s journey in this instalment is a dual one. Both Kumar and Warsi’s characters, initially rivals, are forced to collaborate on a case that is far bigger than their personal ambitions.
Akshay Kumar brings his A-game, seamlessly switching between his trademark comic timing and the intense emotional moments that define his character. Arshad Warsi on the other hand, is good, matching Kumar’s energy and delivering a performance that reminds you why he was the perfect first “Jolly”.
While the two leads are a treat to watch, Saurabh Shukla as the ever-irritable yet honest Judge Sunder Lal Tripathi, delivers a noteworthy performance. His witty one-liners and impeccable expressions are the heart and soul of the courtroom scenes.

The supporting cast, including the returning Amrita Rao and Huma Qureshi, alongside new additions like Gajraj Rao as the ruthless industrialist Haribhai Khaitan, the primary antagonist, all contribute effectively to the narrative.

The screenplay is tight, with no unnecessary diversions, and the dialogues are sharp, witty and impactful. The cinematography by Rangarajan Ramabadran captures the grittiness of the legal world while also highlighting the emotional beats.
The music, handled by Aman Pant, Anurag Saikia and Vikram Montrose for songs and Mangesh Dhakde for the score, goes well with the story.
The climax of the film particularly, is a high point, with a rousing speech by a prominent character, that is sure to get the audiences’ applause.
While ‘Jolly LLB 3’ may not surpass the previous two films of the franchise, in every aspect, it remains a worthwhile watch that delivers on its promises. It makes you laugh, cheer, get emotional sometimes, and also think all at once; it proves that this franchise still has plenty of life left in it.
