Lyca Radio announces the launch of ‘Lyca Xtra’: A new podcast for British Asians

Lyca Radio Network has announced the forthcoming launch of Lyca Xtra, a new weekly podcast created to amplify the voices and perspectives of the British Asian community. Set to launch in January 2026, the podcast aligns with its strapline, ‘The Sound of the British Asian Generation’, and promises a compelling blend of culture, commentary and contemporary issues.

Speaking about the launch, Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Radio Network, said, “This is a huge announcement for us and a natural extension of our hugely successful radio brands. The element of speech-driven content has long been missing on UK Asian commercial radio, and the launch of Lyca Xtra fills that gap. The podcast will feature round-table debates that truly resonate with our listeners, along with interviews exploring health, finance and lifestyle topics that directly impact British Asians.”

Lyca Xtra will be available across all major audio platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, YouTube, Audible, JioSaavn and Gaana, ensuring extensive reach from launch. A visual edition will also be produced, offering further exposure through Lyca Radio’s Instagram and YouTube channels.

Each episode will deliver a wide-ranging editorial offerings, bringing together in-depth discussions on sensitive subjects often avoided within South Asian communities, and interviews with prominent business leaders, celebrities and entrepreneurs. It will also explore lifestyle themes, including health, the economy and politics, reflecting the interests and concerns of its target audience.

Hosted by presenters from across the Lyca Radio Network, with celebrity guests joining for special editions, Lyca Xtra is set to establish itself as a fresh and influential addition to British Asian media when it launches in early 2026.

The launch of Lyca Xtra comes on the back of the launch of Lyca Radio Network’s new digital-only radio stations this week, Lyca Radio 90s, Lyca Radio Punjabi and Lyca Gold 2, to further extends its digital footprint.
