RAJAR: No significant change for UK Asian radio stations in Q4/24 data
With latest radio listening figures published by RAJAR this morning, Asian radio brands remained steady, with very little change, according to data for the final three months of 2024.
Nationally, BBC Asian Network held on to the No.1 position but was down by 30,000. The station delivered a reach of 579,000 – down from 609,000 in the previous quarter. However, its average listening hours per listener was up from 4.7 to 5.3.
Sunrise Radio National was down by 10,000 from 370,000 to 360,000. Its average listening hours per listener remained at 4.7.
Locally, Sunrise Radio was also down in Greater London by 6,000. Its weekly reach stood at 145,000 – down from 151,000 in Q3/24. Sunrise Smooth lost 13,000 listeners, delivering a weekly reach of 31,000.
Tony Lit MBE, Managing Director of Sunrise Radio Group, said, “Once again I’m happy to report that following the release of Rajar Q4 2024 this morning, Sunrise Radio remains the UK’s number 1 Asian commercial radio station in London and Nationally. I have to say, 35 years at Number 1 must be a record! Sunrise Smooth on London DAB continues its path also with an increase in hours.
Our much talked about new National Radio Station is expected to launch in the next 3-4 months as the final preparations are made with the official launch date coming soon. I would just like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful listeners, my dedicated team, and to our commercial partners. Without you we could not make the magic happen.”

Also, after the recent success of our Maldives competition, we’re giving away holiday tours and other exciting prizes in the days ahead. Thanks once again for the continued support.”
