Kiran Mani to step down from CEO role at JioStar in June

Kiran Mani will step down from his role as Chief Executive Officer of JioStar in June, marking the end of a tenure that has spanned nearly three years across JioCinema and JioHotstar. The development was confirmed by JioStar vice‑chairman Uday Shankar, who informed employees that Mani will be relocating overseas for personal reasons.

In an internal note, Shankar wrote, “After a nearly three-year stint, first with JioCinema and then with JioHotstar, Kiran Mani has chosen to move on and relocate overseas for personal reasons. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Kiran for the outstanding role he has played in building out our streaming business and the profound impact that his leadership has had on JioHotstar over the last few years.

Kiran has played a significant role in shaping our strategic direction, strengthening our core platform and laying the foundations for our next phase of growth. With his ability to attract the right kind of talent and his efforts in building the team and establishing a capable leadership bench, the organisation is well positioned to continue progressing on its priorities.

We are working out the go-forward organisational structure for our digital business following Kiran’s decision to move on and expect to share this with you in the ensuing weeks.

Kiran will remain with JioStar until early June and will help with the transition. Please join me in thanking him for his steady leadership and the perspective he brought to the organisation and in wishing him every success and happiness in his future endeavours.”

Mani is set to join OpenAI as Managing Director for Asia‑Pacific, based in Singapore, as the company accelerates its expansion across high‑growth markets in the region.
