Islam Channel Bangla refutes rumours of closure
Islam Channel Bangla has denied rumours that it is shutting down its UK operations.
It was reported a few days ago that the channel was facing closure at the end of this month – but this is untrue. Islam Channel Bangla, which launched on Sky in September 2022 has been a valuable resource for viewers seeking faith-based programming in the Bangla language.
“I am pleased to confirm that there is no truth to the story published by BizAsia on 23rd August. I can confirm that Islam Channel Bangla is, in fact, continuing to broadcast on Sky and can be found on Sky 784 as usual.
In the two years since its launch, Islam Channel Bangla has garnered an extremely dedicated audience. Although it is not easy to launch a brand-new channel in the current media landscape and commercial climate, in a relatively short time we have managed to achieve some significant milestones including raising £1.45 million in a single night’s televised appeal by one of our charity partners. We have a lot of support from the community, with committed advertisers from all sectors. Alongside our other channels, Islam Channel Bangla will be playing a key role in the forthcoming Global Peace and Unity Festival due to take place at London’s Excel on 19th and 20th October.”
