Himesh Reshammiya returns to ‘Indian Idol’ as Sony TV unveils ‘Legends Return’ season
Sony Entertainment Television has confirmed the return of Himesh Reshammiya to the judging panel of the upcoming season of ‘Indian Idol’, titled ‘Indian Idol: Legends Return’, which will stream on Sony LIV alongside its television broadcast.
The broadcaster unveiled the first promo for the new season on Friday, marking Reshammiya’s comeback to the long-running singing reality format. The promo sees the singer-composer make an entry to his 2005 chartbuster ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’, setting the tone for a season built around nostalgia and familiar faces from the franchise’s history.
In the promo, Reshammiya hints at a landmark chapter for the format, saying: “Yeh show wo history create karne wala hai… jo ab tak nahi hua.”

The forthcoming season will bring back several former contestants and winners whose journeys have been closely followed by audiences over the years. Among those featured in the launch promo are Salman Ali, Mohd. Danish, Prajakta Shukre, Amit Sana, Sayli Kamble, Abhijeet Sawant, Anshika Chonkar and Rishi Singh.
