Court orders preservation of Sunjay Kapur’s assets amid will dispute involving Karisma Kapoor’s children

The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira Kapur and Kiaan Kapur, by ordering the preservation of the late Sunjay Kapur’s assets while a dispute over his purported will is examined. The directive prevents any sale, transfer or alteration of the estate until questions surrounding the document’s validity are resolved.

The order follows objections raised by Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur’s mother, who have challenged the authenticity of the will and expressed concerns regarding the transparency of asset disclosures. The court noted the presence of “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the document and stated that these issues must be addressed before it can be accepted as genuine.

Under the interim directions, various assets, including bank accounts, shareholdings, personal effects and certain financial holdings, have been frozen, with limited withdrawals permitted only for essential expenses relating to the welfare of Samaira and Kiaan.

The dispute, which centres on inheritance rights and the administration of an estate of considerable value, is expected to proceed to further scrutiny, including forensic examination of the will. The matter will continue before the High Court in the coming months.
