BritAsiaTV has announced an exciting new partnership with the Official Charts Company, in launching the world’s first Official Punjabi Chart Show.
Punjabi music consumption has grown exponentially over the last few decades, cementing itself as the dominant South Asian music genre across India. With the roots of modern-day Punjabi music firmly entrenched in the UK, BritAsia TV will be working alongside the Official Charts Company to establish the first Punjabi music chart in the world compiled using official data from all major streaming and download platforms including Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube. Data will also be gathered from sales of Punjabi music from Base HD, Booksolve, Amazon.co.uk, EA, Easons, Gardners HD, Heffers Sound, HMV, HMV HD, HUT Group HD, Proper HD, Recordstore.co.uk HD, UCA, Warner Music HD, WHSmith, Zoom HD, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Sainsbury Local, Tesco, Tesco Express, Waitrose.
The Official Charts Company, formed in 1952, compiles more than 50 charts including a vast array of music genre charts and the Official Charts for the home entertainment industry. Its data is drawn from a highly complex tracking service, which accounts for sales of physical, digital downloads and streaming. Most notably, the Official Charts company compiles the UK’s Official Singles Chart as heard on BBC Radio 1 every Friday.
