‘Bigg Boss 19’ to adopt ‘Digital First’ strategy with premiere on JioHotstar before TV
As part of a major revamp for the flagship reality show ‘Bigg Boss’, JioStar has reportedly adopted a new strategy that will see episodes premiere first on JioHotstar before their television telecast on Colors.
Following an earlier fallout between the production house and the broadcaster, reports indicate that both sides have reconciled and formalised a new five-year agreement. The show is expected to go live over the weekend of 29–30 August, and for the first time, ‘Bigg Boss’ will debut as a digital-first property, with fresh episodes dropping on JioHotstar ahead of their airing on Colors, roughly ninety minutes later.
Sources told Screen that the makers aim to position this season as a hybrid release, ensuring it runs simultaneously on both platforms while prioritising its OTT audience. Another major change concerns the hosting line-up: Salman Khan will reportedly helm the show for the first three months only. The remaining two months may see a rotation of celebrity hosts including Farah Khan, Karan Johar, and Anil Kapoor, although final details are still being decided.
