‘Bigg Boss 19’ rumoured to premiere on Hotstar in UK for first time
The eagerly awaited launch of ‘Bigg Boss 19’ may be heading to digital screens in the UK for the very first time, with strong speculation suggesting the reality juggernaut will stream on Hotstar UK.
According to industry chatter, the new season, set to premiere on 24th August, could follow the same release strategy as its Indian counterpart, JioHotstar, where episodes will be made available online prior to their television broadcast. If confirmed, this would mark the first occasion that ‘Bigg Boss’ is accessible digitally in the UK.
Until now, Colors UK has broadcast ‘Bigg Boss’ on its linear service due to the unavailability at the time of JioCinema (now JioHotstar). However, following the merger of Viacom18 and Disney Star, the newly formed media entity JioStar has emerged as a formidable force in South Asian entertainment. In the UK, Star TV UK has been operating Hotstar as a streamlined version of its Indian counterpart, tailored to meet international rights and licensing constraints.
