BBC presenters including Reeta Chakrabarti given redundancy letters

Reeta Chakrabarti is among a number of top BBC News presenters who has been handed a redundancy letter, as a part of its ongoing cost-cutting exercise.

The Mail on Sunday reports that the corporation has written to all of its senior TV and radio broadcasters to consider voluntary redundancy. Huw Edwards is another shock name that has appeared, who only recently signed a new three-year contract.

The paper further reports that the letter has been issued by Philippa Busby, the interim managing editor of news and current affairs. They have been advised to arrange a meeting with senior HR executive Tim Burden. The letter was sent at the beginning of April.

BBC News channel recently underwent a number of changes with a much smaller combined service, with BBC World Service.
