Anil Sharma on shelving ‘Apne 2’ after Dharmendra’s demise

Filmmaker Anil Sharma has confirmed that work on the much‑anticipated sequel ‘Apne 2’ has been shelved following the death of veteran actor Dharmendra.

The film, which was to reunite the Deol family on screen, had its script ready and production plans in place. However, Sharma has made it clear that the project cannot proceed without Dharmendra, who was central to the story.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sharma said, “Apne to apno ke bina nahi ho sakti. Without Dharamji, it’s impossible to make the sequel. Everything was on track and the script was ready, but he left us. Some dreams remain unfulfilled. Without him, it’s not possible.”

‘Apne 2’ was intended as a continuation of the 2007 hit ‘Apne’, which featured Dharmendra alongside his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol.
