Anil Sharma opens up about resolving differences with Ameesha Patel & ‘Gadar 3’

Filmmaker Anil Sharma has addressed his much-publicised spat with actress Ameesha Patel, which arose after she claimed she had been “cheated” when the climax of the film was altered without her knowledge. Patel had expressed disappointment over the size of her role in the Sunny Deol-led blockbuster. In response, Sharma referred to her as “moody” in an interview, but emphasised that everyone is entitled to their opinion and that he still considers her part of his extended family.

Speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Sharma confirmed that relations between the two are now amicable. “My equation with Ameesha is great now. With time, everything gets sorted out. Everything is good now!” he said. (“Waqt ke saath saath sab cheezein sahi ho jaati hai. Abhi sab badhiya hai!”)

When asked whether Patel would return for ‘Gadar 3’, particularly given her insistence on preserving the love story between Tara and Sakeena, Sharma responded: “Sakeena and Tara are an integral part of ‘Gadar’. But we’ll discuss her character in more detail ahead of the release of ‘Gadar 3’.”

He went on to confirm that the third instalment is very much in the pipeline: “’Gadar 3′ will definitely be made. We’ve already made a commitment to the audience in the final scene of ‘Gadar 2’, where Utkarsh’s character, Jeete, is told he’s worthy of joining the army. We ended the film with the message: ‘to be continued’.”

Sharing the production timeline, Sharma added, “Making ‘Gadar 3’ will take some time, but audiences can rest assured it won’t take another 20 years (laughs). We’re hoping to begin filming within the next two years. The script is already in development and will focus on the stories of Tara and Jeete.”
