ZEE TV launches in Germany with 24×7 German subtitles
ZEE has expanded its European presence with the launch of ZEE TV in Germany, now available with 24/7 German subtitles. The move, developed in partnership with TV1, aims to make Indian programming more accessible to German‑speaking audiences and sits alongside the broadcaster’s existing German‑dubbed channel, ZEE One.
The subtitled service is intended to offer viewers an alternative way to engage with Indian content, while strengthening cultural links between India and Europe. The launch event in Berlin also highlighted ZEE’s wider global ecosystem, including ZEE5, which currently hosts more than 2,000 hours of German‑dubbed programming, over 500 originals, and plans for more than 130 new original titles in the coming year. ZEE Music Company, which recorded over one billion streams last year, was also showcased as part of the group’s broader entertainment portfolio.
A panel discussion titled “Stories That Connect – Bridging Cultures Through Media, Dialogue, and Ideas” brought together the Ambassador of India to Germany, H.E. Ajit Gupte, producer Mathias Schwerbrock and journalist Ewald König, with moderation by Parul Goel, ZEE Entertainment’s Territory Head for Europe.
The evening also marked the inaugural ZEE Community Excellence Awards, recognising individuals and organisations contributing to the Indian community in Germany. The recipients included Anjana Singh for Arts and Culture, Manohar Prabhu for Community Leadership, Amit Somani as Young Achiever, Tom Luther for Media and Entertainment, Vilwanathan Krishnamurthy for Social Impact, Barjinder Singh Sodhi as Business Leader, and Franziska Giffey, who received a Special Recognition Award.

In addition to moderating the panel, Goel’s role in the event added to a growing list of notable achievements during his tenure. Having overseen several distinctive launches across ZEE Europe, ZEE5 Europe, and other territories, the Berlin event marked another significant milestone under his leadership.
Speaking at the event, Parul Goel said, “The launch of ZEE TV with German subtitles allows us to bring Indian storytelling closer to audiences across Europe. The ZEE Community Excellence Awards are a celebration of the inspiring journeys and achievements of the Indian diaspora in Germany. These stories deserve recognition, and through this platform, we aim to honour their contributions while strengthening the cultural connection between India and Europe.”
The event featured cultural performances, including a sword display and a musical set by singer Vishal.
