South Asian films ‘Boong’ and ‘The Perfect Neighbour’ shine at BAFTA event
London’s inaugural South Asian celebration placed two remarkable films firmly in the spotlight, ‘Boong’, a lively and off‑beat Manipuri comedy‑drama, and ‘The Perfect Neighbour’, a tense true‑crime documentary directed by Geeta Gandbhir. Both titles have quickly emerged as prominent contenders for the 2026 BAFTA Awards.
Hosted at the BAFTA headquarters, the event gathered filmmakers, industry figures and creative talent for an evening that championed artistic excellence and cultural exchange. Organised by Society O and Product of Culture, the celebration honoured the achievements of South Asian storytellers while also encouraging new collaborations and industry opportunities during a crucial phase of the awards season.
BAFTA takes place on Sunday.
