‘Dhurandhar 2’ CBFC clearance still pending as viral certificate sparks confusion

Aditya Dhar’s upcoming sequel ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is yet to receive clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification, despite a certificate circulating online that initially led many to believe the film had already been approved. According to an India Today report, the viral certificate does not belong to the sequel but to the first instalment, which released in cinemas on 5th December 2025.

A source quoted in the report clarified that the certificate currently doing the rounds was issued for the television premiere of the original ‘Dhurandhar’, not for the new film. The sequel, scheduled to release in cinemas on 19 March, has not yet been submitted to the CBFC for review. Filming for ‘Dhurandhar 2’ reportedly continued until last week, which explains why the certification process has not begun.

The certificate dated 9th February, which went viral on social media, features only the title ‘Dhurandhar’, making it clear that it pertains to the first film rather than the forthcoming sequel. With the release date approaching, the team is expected to submit the film for certification soon.
