Shiv Thakare talks to BizAsia about ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’: “I was very scared of water”

Popular ‘Bigg Boss 16’ contestant, Shiv Thakare spoke exclusively to BizAsiaLive.com about his participation in the upcoming season of ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’ . He opened up about the stunts he braved and his fellow contestants.

Below are excerpts he gave to Raj Baddhan in an exclusive interview on Lyca Radio (London) and BizAsiaLive.com.

First tell us, Shiv, when you announced that you were going to be a participant in ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’, how was that? Did you decide suddenly, or did it take you some time to decide?
No, to be honest, it was in my wish list. Whenever you want to do a reality show or ‘Big Boss’, it feels like it’s a new reality show in ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’. It’s a new experience. Do new things, show people a new side. So it was in my wish list, and hopefully that wish list got fulfilled soon after ‘Big Boss’.

What was it about ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’ that you wanted to do? Did you want to test yourself, or was it the stunts that excited you? Or was it Rohit Shetty that excited you? What was in your thinking?
The stunts, the kind of reality show, the stunts, I don’t think any other show has such kind of stunts. So one, I like those stunts. And secondly, if I say something practical, you will reach people through one more reality show. This was my motto.

And is there any particular stunts that you were afraid you might not be able to do?
The underwater stunts. I’m not a swimmer, I’m a non-swimmer. And I have nothing to do with water. So because of that, whenever I got underwater stunts, if it’s just a water stunt where you have to hold your breath, then it’s fine. But underwater stunts, I used to get scared. But ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ show is like that. The more you get scared, if you repeat the same thing over and over again, your fear starts to diminish. So that’s what happened. I was very scared of water, so that fear diminished by the last day.

And is there a particular stunt that you were excited about and you had a lot of fun with it?
The dynamic stunts of cars, trucks, you have to hang it, you have to hold the chopper. I was very excited about all the stunts like that. And what I did, I enjoyed it, “Shit, man, you did it, Shiv.” The dynamic stunts.

We know you have a good friend relationships with Dino, with Arijit. How has it been with your new friends?
They are very good boys. And they are full punters, College friends. That’s how we became friends. We travel together all day. When we perform, we push each other. No friend has the motivation without abuse, because friends have different motivations. They abuse each other. That’s better. That was our bond. We can have fun all day without a topic. I have made good friends on this journey.

The more you get scared, if you repeat the same thing over and over again, your fear starts to diminish. So that’s what happened.

‘Bigg Boss’ is coming, ‘Bigg Boss 17’. Before that, of course, ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ is going on. So what’s your take on ‘Bigg Boss OTT’? You may not have seen anything because you’ve been in Cape Town. But you must have seen some clips. What do you think of what’s going on in ‘Bigg Boss OTT’?
To be honest, I haven’t seen the series. There are some clips on the feed. I like Jiya and Fukre, the YouTuber. I like his way of talking, the way he presents the topic. Whatever his thoughts are, he presents them openly. So I think he’s doing a good job.

If ‘Bigg Boss 17’ gets a chance as a cameo or a guest housemate, will you be able to do it?
Always ready. I am made for ‘Bigg Boss’.

Do you have any friendships from ‘Bigg Boss 16’? You’ve got obviously quite a few friends from the show. And who is your tight relationship with till now?
It’s Sajid Sir, Abdu, MC, Nimrit and Sumbul. My group is still in the same relationship. Archana is my best friend.

Shiv Thakare says: “I am made for ‘Bigg Boss'”

Do you have any plans to come to London?
I have a lot of London fans. Whenever I get DMs, I feel good that there are people outside of India who love me. They have supported me a lot in ‘Bigg Boss’. They have prayed a lot for me. Whenever I get a chance, I will definitely meet them. But I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart, for supporting me and loving me. And you didn’t support Shiv Thakare. You helped a boy like ‘Gully Boy’ to fulfill his dream. You helped him a lot. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. And Shiv Thakare will always pray that all your dreams come true.

Thank you so much, Shiv. And Shiv, before finishing, what would you like to say to the fans who want to meet you? Your London fans. How do they meet you? How can they meet you?
Absolutely. Whenever I have a shoot in London, or if I get a chance to attend an event, I will definitely feel good to come to London and meet everyone. Get together and talk to everyone, enjoy. Even if I don’t get a chance, if I get a chance to shoot for a film or project, I will definitely meet them. I will definitely get more chances. But I promise that whenever I come to London, I will definitely meet the fans who made me.

Finally I wanted to ask you about your projects. Right now you are doing a reality show. Do you have any TV fiction or film projects?
I have a few lined up. But they haven’t been finalised yet. I want them to be finalised as soon as possible. I will have to work on that myself. Big projects and big dreams require a lot of hard work. My main target is the film. So I will be meeting the people who have offered me offers. Hopefully, you will see Shiv Thakare in a good project.
