Reality TV star Shiv Thakare is basking in glory post his participation in ‘Bigg Boss 16’, where he was the first runner-up. His fame has reached new heights and he is conquering the world of Indian television.

BizAsia’s Afrah Khan spoke with this inspiring go-getter as he made time for us for an interview from South Africa where he is taking part in ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’. Here are some excerpts from the interview.

How has your experience been on ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’ so far?
It has been a great experience. This show is completely different from the other reality TV shows that I have done in the past. I’m extremely happy and thankful for this opportunity. There have been good days and bad days both. But I never give up. I keep trying to do my best each time and give it everything I have. I’m thoroughly enjoying my time on the show.

Since you are on a show that deals with scary stunts, what would you say is your biggest fear?
I’m not particularly scared of anything so to say. I was not comfortable doing stunts in water but Rohit Shetty sir (host of ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi’13) encouraged me to do stunts involving water. I did a stunt recently that had a chopper, that was quite challenging. Other than that, in life emotionally speaking, my biggest fear is staying away from my family. I’m a person who needs my family members and friends close to me all the time.

Your best friend Tajikistan singing sensation Abdu Rozik has joined ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’ as a guest. How do you feel about his presence on the show?
Abdu has brought so much happiness along with him. Both of us are re-living our ‘Bigg Boss 16’ days and having so much fun. His hugs are the most magical in the world. I’m delighted to have him around. It’s such an endearing experience.

Speaking about your stint on ‘Bigg Boss 16’, you were so close to lifting the trophy but missed it by a whisker. How would you like to remember your journey on the show?
I didn’t win the trophy but won people’s hearts. The love and respect that has come my way after the show is unbelievable. I feel blessed to receive all the appreciation. It’s overwhelming. I will continue to work hard and keep entertaining my fans. I have more to achieve. I’m taking everything one step at a time.

Shiv Thakare in ‘Bigg Boss 16’

One of your biggest dreams is to star in a Bollywood film. How are you preparing for that?
Working in a Bollywood movie would be such a big achievement for me. There are a lot of preparations that are required if one wishes to do well in a movie. Your looks, diction, acting skills, everything needs to be perfected before you go for it. I’m working on all that is necessary for my Bollywood debut. Hopefully it will happen soon.

Are you in talks with anybody for a role in a Hindi movie?
There are certain discussions that have happened with regards to my entry in Bollywood. Once I wrap up my shooting for ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’, I will sit with my team and look at the offers that have been made to me and decide what kind of work would suit my interest. I guess starting from something like starring in a parallel lead role and moving forward to doing the main lead would be great.

Are you open to doing Marathi films?
Of course. Marathi is close to my heart. I was the winner of ‘Bigg Boss Marathi 2’. It would be a matter of pride for me to work in Marathi films. I will surely work in the Marathi film industry if something promising comes my way.

I’m totally concentrating on my career at the moment. When I meet my “sapno ki rani” (girl of my dreams) I will let you know (quips).

You recorded for ‘MTV Roadies – Karm Ya Kaand’ before you left for South Africa. What was your role in the show?
I participated in ‘MTV Roadies Rising’ as a contestant. Now featuring on the same show as a guest gang leader this time from being a roadie earlier is a dream come true. I’m grateful to everyone who has made this possible. Prince Narula supports me a lot. It’s been such an amazing journey for me from being a nobody to a somebody. I’m full of gratitude.

Are you dating anybody currently? Your female fans would love to know.
I’m not dating anyone right now. I’m totally concentrating on my career at the moment. When I meet my “sapno ki rani” (girl of my dreams) I will let you know (quips).

What is your message for your fans especially those who live in the UK?
I love all of you. I’m waiting to visit the UK and give you a tight hug. I’m thankful to each one of you for supporting me and giving me so much love. It’s phenomenal for a man like me to gain international recognition and fame having come from a modest place like Amravati in India. It means a lot.

He signs off.

BizAsia wishes the effervescent Shiv Thakare all the best for his future.
