Avtar Lit awarded ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’

Avtar Lit the founder of Sunrise Radio, who passed away last year, has been awarded the ‘British Asian Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement’ award posthumously at the House of Commons Members’ dining room.

The award was collected by Avtar’s son Tony Lit and was presented by Shadow Minister Seema Malhotra MP, Virendra Sharma MP, and Lord Karan Billimoria.

Tony spoke about his father and his enduring legacy, lifetime’s work, and what launching Sunrise Radio in the 80s meant to the British Asian community, giving them a voice and connecting directly with them. Today Sunrise Radio remains the most eminent Asian commercial radio service and the only National Asian commercial radio station.
