Shahid Kapoor has been on an award-winning spree for ‘Haider’ (2014). However, he’s now moved on to working on ‘Shaandaar’ and ‘Udta Punjab’. The actor has recently spoken about the financial difficulties that the former, directed by Vikas Bahl, faced when it was first taking off.

Kapoor spoke to Hindustan Times, “In the beginning, when we started working on the film, nobody gave us the budget for it because Vikas had written an expensive film. It had to be shot in Europe and artistes had to be flown from India. Plus back then, neither Haider, nor Alia۪s 2014 films or Vikas۪s Queen (2013) had released. Basically, hum sab okay type۪ ke log the (we were average kind of people)”.

Bahl became a bankable entity because his film ‘Queen’ hit the right chords with the audiences. He said, “Last year was amazing for Vikas. Everyone felt that Queen was the best film of the year. For Alia, it was an absolutely outstanding year. She has really come into her own. And then Haider happened, and it۪s been a great film for me as an actor. So, we۪ve been bumping into each other at awards functions and it feels amazing”.

Kapoor will be seen with Alia Bhatt in both ‘Shaandaar’ and also ‘Udta Punjab’.
