Ranveer Singh to play Lord Shiva in ‘The Immortals of Meluha’

Ranveer Singh is set to headline the long‑awaited film adaptation of Amish Tripathi’s ‘The Immortals of Meluha’, taking on the role of Lord Shiva in what is being developed as a large‑scale trilogy. The project, backed by Singh’s banner Maa Kasam Film in partnership with Birla Studios, marks one of the most ambitious literary adaptations currently in development in India.

Rather than rushing into production, the team is focusing on extensive world‑building and script development to translate the novel’s mythology‑driven universe to screen. Singh and Ananya Birla are said to be closely involved in shaping the creative framework, with the first film expected to enter production in 2028 once the director and final screenplay are locked.

The trilogy aims to reimagine the source material for a global audience, positioning Shiva not only as a mythic figure but as a character with emotional depth and political complexity. With Singh anchoring the narrative, the adaptation is already being viewed as a defining long‑term franchise for the actor.
