Leicester East MP to host charity cricket event in aid of LOROS

Leicester East MP Shivani Raja is inviting families, cricket fans and communities from across the area to attend a charity cricket event in support of LOROS.

The event will take place on Monday 31st August 2026, from 11:00 to 17:00, at Rushey Fields Recreation Ground, Harrison Road, Leicester

People of all ages and backgrounds will be encouraged to take part in cricket activities throughout the day.

Organisers say the event will welcome both experienced players and those keen to have a go at the sport for the first time.

Families will also be able to enjoy food and refreshments from local vendors while spending time outdoors.

Community leaders from across Leicester East will be invited to attend and take part.

The event aims to bring local communities together, promote community cohesion and celebrate Leicester’s diversity.

All money raised will go to LOROS, which provides free, compassionate hospice care and support to people living with terminal illness, as well as their families and carers, across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Ms Raja said the event would offer people the chance to enjoy cricket while supporting an important local charity.

“I am delighted to invite families, cricket lovers and communities from Leicester East and beyond to join us for this fantastic charity event in support of LOROS,” she said.

“It will be a great opportunity for people to come together, enjoy cricket, food and the outdoors, and help strengthen community connections. Whether you want to play, support the participants or simply enjoy the day, everyone is welcome.”

The event is being organised in partnership with the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket Foundation, Conservative Friends of India and What a Shot!.
