Geo TV’s latest addition to its fast growing network will see the launch of Pakistan’s first sports dedicated channel called ‘Geo Super’.
In a press statement to BizAsia.co.uk, ‘Geo Super’, as the names suggests will personify everything that is ��SUPER�۪ in the sporting world.
“From super players to super performances, from super tournaments to super thrills, the channel will offer the highest caliber of sportsmanship in all sporting activities.�۪Geo Super’ will provide unlimited coverage of every sportsman, both on the ground, and off the ground.”
‘Geo Super’ already holds the rights to the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, the cricket World Cup and all international cricket tours in India until 2009 for the Pakistan territory. The channel is looking at acquiring more rights and these will be announced shortly.
The channel goes live in Pakistan within the next two weeks. There are no immediate plans to bring the channel to the UK but this has not been ruled out.
According to an insider, distribution of the channel at this point will be through cable operators in Pakistan. “They typically charge US$3 for monthly subscription for a 60 channel package and ‘Geo Super’ will be inclusive.”
Since its inception in 2002, the Geo TV network has worked from strength to strength to become leaders in every genre they broadcast.
Geo UK was the first to launch in the UK. This was recently followed by Pakistan’s first youth orientated channel Aag TV. The next to launch in the UK from the Geo camp will be its news channel. Geo News is looking at an early 2007 debut.
