Disney Star’s Sarika Shankarnarayan set to relocate to California
In a surprise move, Sarika Shankarnarayan, Business Head of Disney Star – UK, Europe and South Africa, is set to relocate from London to California, BizAsiaLive.com can exclusively reveal.
Shankarnarayan, who has been with Star for 15+ years, moved from Star India to the UK in a marketing role in 2009. That paved the way for a Vice President position in Marketing and Sales. She then became the first female Business Head for the UK, Europe and South Africa regions in 2021.
During her tenure as Business Head, Shankarnarayan has forged strong relationships with all major leading platforms in UK & South Africa, with the recent launch of Star channels on BT and Sky Glass in the UK & the launch of Star Select in South Africa.
Despite the challenges linear television broadcasters have been facing, Star channels have retained their leadership status in the UK. Star Life continues to be a ratings chart topper & continues to pay way for the dubbed language category in South Africa.
The big question that arises is how this transition will impact Star UK & South Africa after Shankarnarayan’s move expected in August this year. Will there be a change of guard or will Shankarnarayan continue running the business remotely.
