Daler Mehndi has been handed a two year prison sentence for a 2003 human trafficking case.
Mehndi, 50, was convicted earlier by a Patiala court. He has been granted bail.
The case was registered in 2003 after a complaint by Bakshish Singh, a resident of Balbehra Village. As well as Mehndi, his brother Shamsher Singh was also accused of illegally sending individuals abroad by charging “passage money”.
Police in Patalia had registered a case against the brothers but a further 35 complaints of fraud were lodged against them.
