Birmingham Diwali Mela 2025 postponed due to safety concerns

The organisers of the Birmingham Premier Diwali Mela have announced that this year’s event will not go ahead as planned.
In a statement issued by the Soho Road Business Improvement District (BID), the decision followed a meeting with the Safety Advisory Group (SAG), which determined that the event could not proceed under current safety conditions.
According to the statement, the decision was made after “careful consideration” of public safety and wellbeing, referencing the recent attack in Manchester and new statutory requirements under Martyn’s Law.
The 10th edition of the Birmingham Premier Diwali Mela was due to feature performances from popular Punjabi artists Kulwinder Billa, Nirmal Sidhu, and Amar Hayer, among others, and was expected to draw large crowds to the Soho Road area.
