When will Birmingham’s Diwali Mela be held this year?
Birmingham’s Diwali Mela, which draws thousands of residents and visitors, has been canceled this year due to a “funding freeze,” according to the Soho Road Business Improvement District (BID).
The organisation, responsible for arranging the community event, revealed it faced a halt in funding after an appeal was lodged against the recent successful ballot that would have renewed the BID’s term for another cycle.
Held annually in Birmingham, the Diwali Mela transforms streets like Soho Road and Holyhead Road with festive lights, music, and cultural displays. This year’s festival was set to take place on 1st November, marking Diwali.
