BBC Crisis: Nihal Arthanayake: “Tim Davie is one of the most insincere people I’ve ever met”
Just hours after the resignations of BBC Director General Tim Davie and CEO of BBC News Deborrah Turness, broadcaster Nihal Arthanayak has publicly criticised Davie in a strongly worded statement.
Arthanayak, who departed the BBC earlier this year after two decades with the corporation, was widely recognised for his work across television and radio, including prominent roles on BBC Asian Network and BBC Radio 5 Live.
Taking to Instagram, Arthanayak remarked, “How interesting. Both the Head of News and the Director General of the BBC have resigned. And I have to say both of them should have gone a long time ago. And on a personal note, Tim Dave is one of the most insincere people I’ve ever. He’s the kind of guy that when he’s talking to you he’s looking over your shoulder to see if there is someone more important in the room than you and he’s wasting his time talking to you if there is. Never the sign of a good human being.”

Upon announcing his departure in September, Arthanayak stated that he had seen no meaningful progress since raising concerns over a year prior, prompting his decision to step away from the organisation.
