Arijit Singh clarifies his playback singing “retirement”; says pending songs will keep releasing

Arijit Singh has snapped back into the spotlight after returning to social media to clear up the chaos surrounding his so‑called “retirement” from playback singing. The singer had announced a few weeks ago that he was stepping away from new film assignments — but when a freshly recorded track featuring his voice dropped soon after, the internet wasted no time mocking him for what they called a “short‑lived retirement.”

Arijit’s comeback message cut through the noise. He explained that he hasn’t quit singing overnight, he simply stopped taking new work, while a long list of already‑committed songs is still waiting to be completed and released. Those tracks, he said, will continue to roll out throughout the year, and possibly into the next, as he clears his backlog.

His note to fans was warm, direct and unmistakably Arijit, “This message is just for my listeners. Please don’t read and swipe right now if you are not my listener — it’s a humble request. I just want to tell you all that I love you. Thank you so much for your kindness in this ruthless world.”

He followed it with a gentle reminder not to get dragged into online arguments, “Although I have stopped taking new assignments, the list of pending songs is not small. I have to complete many songs. Don’t get involved in explaining things to people — how many times will you? There are many unfinished songs, and they will keep releasing until they are done. Maybe through this whole year, maybe even into next year. Be peaceful. Try to get off this platform. Read, love, meditate.”

The message has largely calmed the trolling and reassured fans that his voice isn’t disappearing anytime soon, he’s simply drawing a line under new commitments while honouring the ones already made.
