Amar Singh promoted in Standard restructure

London’s Evening Standard has announced changes as part of an organisation restructure.

Former Eastern Eye editor Amar Singh, who up until now was the paper’s media corrospondent has been promoted to the role of senior reporter. The move was taken to abolish the position of media correspondent.

MediaGuardian.co.uk also reports the paper’s health correspondent, Amy Iggulden, as being promoted to executive news editor. Earlier this year Iggulden was seconded to the news desk after a successful stint covering health.

The moves come as part of number of changes in the Standard newsroom that the paper said in a statement followed its “high-profile coverage of the London mayoral elections which won the Evening Standard plaudits for its exclusive and comprehensive reporting”.
