The first look of Akshay Kumar’s next, ‘Airlift’ was recently released online. The much awaited film revolves around the Iraq-Kuwait war of 1990, and how India evacuated trapped Indians outside of Kuwait. Upon its release, the teaser is being compared to Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo’ (2012) butKumar has clarified that ‘Airlift’ is an original story.

Kumarsays that youcannot compare ‘Airlift’ to ‘Argo’ (2012). According to the Deccan Chronicle,he stated,”This is a complete original story and non-fictional. ‘Airlift’ is abouta Kuwait-based businessman who was stuck along with more than a lakh people who were staying in Kuwait at that time (1990). ‘Airlift’ and ‘Argo’ are different and can’t be compared.”

Nimrat Kaur who co-stars with Kumar inthe film also added, “Argo is a very small scale operation and it’s very specific. Both are different incidents and there is no resemblance between the two.”

‘Airlift’is directed by Raja Krishna Menon and is slated for a 22nd January release.
