Aamir Khan Productions films move from ZEE to Sony
Aamir Khan Productions has entered into an exclusive agreement with Sony Pictures Networks India for the broadcast and streaming rights to its film library.
The titles, which were previously licensed to ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Limited, have now been transferred to Sony, including the cult classic ‘Lagaan’, which originally premiered on the network in the early 2000s.
The catalogue includes ‘Lagaan’, ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Delhi Belly’, ‘Secret Superstar’ and ‘Talaash’. ‘Laapataa Ladies’ was already part of Sony’s existing library.

There had been some confusion earlier, as ZEE had promoted ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’; however, following confirmation of the Sony deal, ZEE has withdrawn all related promotional material. In the interim, certain older films may continue to air on ZEE depending on the terms of the existing licence agreements, but they will ultimately transition to Sony.
