ZEE Network has signed an exclusive ten-year deal with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to telecast and market Indian football matches.

Under the terms of contract ZEE Sports, in India, will not only broadcast the matches but will also market all the domestic tournaments of AIFF including Federation Cup, Santosh Trophy, National Football League and Super Cup.

The deal also includes some international matches played by Indian Football Team in India under the aegis of AIFF. In the first year ZEE Sports will telecast approximately 100 matches live and exclusive from all the major domestic football tournaments. Any other domestic football tournament, which AIFF starts in this period will also fall under the purview of this contract and will be telecast exclusively on ZEE Sports.

On the signing of the deal Mr Priyaranjan Dasmunshi, President AIFF said, “We are looking at growing the popularity of football across the country. Our goal is to make, Indian Football one of the most fan friendly leagues in the world and we have taken a major step towards that with agreement with ZEE Sports. This partnership a natural alliance between India’s biggest media and entertainment conglomerate and worlds most watched and played sport, will provide right impetus for its growth.” He further added, ” With more matches of tournaments being shown live, with world class production techniques and reputed commentators presenting in viewer’s friendly format, will significantly increase domestic football popularity among masses with international distinction.”

Commenting on the deal Mr Subhash Chandra, Chairman ZEE Telefilms said, “We’re very excited about our new partnership with the AIFF. ZEE will provide unparallel coverage for domestic football. As part of the total telecast package we are working on special initiatives to substantially boost the value we will provide to football fans and advertisers. We are bullish about building football passion and reviving its lost glory.”

ZEE Sports will create a distinctive identity for every domestic tournament to drive fan support across the country. Unique Logo design for every tournament, thematic ad campaigns, unique T-shirt design, profiling of football stars will precede every major tournament to create consumer interest and popularity among the masses. Plans are also being worked out to do special football clinics for youngsters across the country, with leading football players to create excitement around the various football tournaments

To promote the tournaments a special section on Indian football will be created on ZEE Sports website www.zeesports.co.in. This will provide soccer fans with the latest team news, match scores, statistics and player profiles, as well as exclusive player interviews and photo galleries. There will be interactive sections, which will include chat rooms, video clips of matches, online games, wallpapers and ring tones.

SportsCafe, ZEE Sports daily news program will present the daily highlights and analysis of the best moments of the matches. To make the viewing more interesting there will be pre-match analysis, an initial analysis at half time and a detailed analysis after the match.
